May made over 40 trips around the world amassing an amazing collection of artifacts including Tang Dynasty pottery, Greek and Roman icons, weapons, and African tribal items. The collection also features a shrunken human head from South America and over 200 pieces of taxidermy.

The 2025 conference theme, inspired by AASLH’s Making History at 250: The Field Guide for Semiquincentennial, is an opportunity to broadly explore one of the guide’s themes, The American Experiment. For many in the American colonies in 1776, independence from Britain represented a “leap into the dark” into an unknown future

ASTC 2025 Annual Conference September 5–8, 2025 San Francisco Bay Area ASTC 2025 will be held primarily at the Moscone Center in the SoMa/Yerba Buena neighborhood of San Francisco with other events throughout the area. The ASTC Annual Conference is one of the premier annual events for science-engagement professionals and leaders in science and technology centers and museums as well as allied organizations across North America and around the world. ASTC 2025 is being hosted by a consortium of ASTC members in the San Francisco Bay Area. Each year, this event brings together more than 1,600 professionals working in science and technology centers and museums and allied organizations. This includes not only experts and practitioners in informal science education, but also science communication, STEM learning, public engagement, and the broader intersections between science, technology, and society.
