Riverview, like all old houses, has stories to tell. Construction on the house started in the 1850s', but was halted due to the outbreak of the Civil War. During the conflict, the incomplete house was used as a munitions magazine during the winter of 1861-1862, when Bowling Green was the Confederate capital of Kentucky.

Built in1832, Rosehill has been a private residence, doctors office, and tavern. The elegant structure stood watch as Union gun boats steamed south in support of General U.S. Grant at Ft. Donnelson, Tn during the American Civil War. In 1981, it was saved from demolition by the Lyon County Historical Society, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and converted into a museum.
