The society maintains four historical buildings dating from 1817 to 1892 including Magnolia Grange (1822 plantation), the County Museum with five galleries of Chesterfield history, an 1892 jail with police and fire department exhibits and a gift shop. (The jail at this time is closed for maintenance.)

The Collingwood Library and Museum on Americanism (CLMA) occupies 8.75 acres of land on the banks of the Potomac River, midway between Alexandria and Mount Vernon on what was once part of George Washington's River Farm. Collingwood is owned by a non-profit corporation chartered by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1976.Collingwood is a non-profit foundation dedicated to our American Heritage and those who cherish the freedom of life, liberty, religion and free expression. Open to the public.
