Establish Miami Children’s Museum as a primary center for school readiness, educational enrichment and entertainment for all children and their caregivers. Build alliances with families, educators, community organizations and promotional partners to meet the developmental needs of all children in our community.
Our 56,500 square foot facility is located on Watson Island. It was designed by Arquitectonica International Inc., an award-winning Miami-based architecture and design firm. The building, for and about children, represents the elements of the world; earth, wind, water and fire. Our facility includes 17 galleries, a preschool (ages 12 months – 5 years), a charter school (kindergarten – 5th grade), the KidSmart educational gift shop, a 200-seat auditorium, and a Subway restaurant.
We acknowledge that the Miami Children's Museum resides within the ancestral homelands and waterways of the many Indigenous nations including the Tequesta peoples, Calusa peoples, United Confederation of Taino People, Seminole Tribe of Florida and The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida. We thank these past, present, and future caretakers of the land for their stewardship.
Founded in 1983, the Miami Children's Museum is dedicated to enriching the lives of all children by fostering a love learning and enabling children to realize their highest potential. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to play together, learn, imagine and create. Located on Watson Island, the 56,500 sq ft facility includes 14 galleries, classrooms, parent/teacher resource center, educational gift shop and 200 seat auditorium.
